Last night we slept with the family in Lat Krabang.
Today we got to
Phitsanulok wher we will stay thee nights in
The Grand Riverside Hotel.
The intention is to drive away around 10 o'clock so that we are at the destination around 3
o'clock in the course of the afternoon, then we still have time to take a look around.
That's why we get up on time.
But Pia wants to leave Moue's house neatly and so we do not leave at 10 o'clock but after 12
o'clock.
At the first toll gate on Kanchanaphisek Road it seems to go wrong, there is a hefty traffic
jam, which is caused by a new payment system that works with license plate recognition.
If your license plate is not in that system, our's isn't, then you have to wait in the queue
to pay in cash, just like before.
Most motorists have to pay in cash.
Then it is not too bad, there is not so much traffic.
Even if we leave Kanchanaphisek Road and head towards Nakhon Sawan, it is reasonably quiet
driving.
As soon as we are on the highway to the north we stop for coffee at a Café Amazon.
Just before Nakhon Sawan we stop for a toilet visit.
The road is remarkably good.
In Nakhon Sawan we take route 117 to Phitsanulok, this road is a lot less good, but it is
not busy.
With the help of Google finding our hotel in Phitsanulok is easy.
We are there at a quarter past five.
Drove on fairly quickly.
The hotel looks good, there is a lot of greenery around it. The reception is neat, but not very helpful, we have to take the luggage ourselves. The room is spacious and neat with a view of the Nan River.
We walk a bit along the river because Tom wants a beer. We sit down at Nannum Restaurant, on a terrace along the water. It looks nice and the staff is friendly. We also order something to eat, and that tastes surprisingly good. The bill is also a surprise, less than THB 800 for three bottles of beer and three very tasty dishes.
